Where business electricity use has fallen most: King's Lynn and West Norfolk tops the list
Business electricity use in King's Lynn and West Norfolk fell 48% between 2012 and 2024, the biggest fall of any council area using at least 100 GWh

- King's Lynn and West Norfolk: 785 GWh in 2012 to 410 GWh in 2024, -47.8%
- Middlesbrough: 384 GWh in 2012 to 223 GWh in 2024, -41.8%
- City of London: 2,456 GWh in 2012 to 1,526 GWh in 2024, -37.9%
- Worthing: 201 GWh in 2012 to 130 GWh in 2024, -35.3%
- Wokingham: 424 GWh in 2012 to 276 GWh in 2024, -34.8%
- Plymouth: 656 GWh in 2012 to 430 GWh in 2024, -34.5%
- Southwark: 1,222 GWh in 2012 to 806 GWh in 2024, -34.1%
- Cheshire West and Chester: 1,788 GWh in 2012 to 1,190 GWh in 2024, -33.5%
- Pembrokeshire: 803 GWh in 2012 to 537 GWh in 2024, -33.1%
- Stockport: 651 GWh in 2012 to 438 GWh in 2024, -32.8%
Falls in business electricity use come from several causes at once: large industrial sites closing or scaling back, businesses moving out, and steady efficiency gains such as LED lighting and better controls. The figures show where the change has been largest, not which cause drove it in each place.
